TRIP INFO

Poonhill trek is very basic trek for the all range of trekker i.e. children to elderly people; elevation gain ranges from a mere 1070 meters at Nayapul to 3210 meters at Poonhill. This elevation range creates a different atmosphere at every stopover you take. The area surrounding the trail is filled with dense Rhododendron forests from the start until reaching Ghandruk village. This short trek takes you deep into various culture and traditions.

DETAIL ITINERARY

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel in Thamel.

After having shower, we will visit Boudhanath Stupa for short sightseeing to the UNESCO heritage sight. In the evening welcome dinner and tour briefing. O/N Hotel . -/-/D

Day 02:Drive or fly to Pokhara

After breakfast at hotel, we will drive (flight optional costs US$120 extra) to Pokhara, the great touristic city of lakes and mountains. O/N Hotel, Meals: B/L/D

Day 03: Drive to Nayapul (1010meters) and trek to Tikhedunga (1570meters) 3 hours

We begin our trek at Nayapul after 1 hour driving by private vehicle from Pokhara. After 15 minutes short walk along the bank of the Modi Khola, we reach Birethanti (1015meters) a large village that has many shops and teahouses. From there, the trail continues through the village. The trail follows the north bank of the Bhurungdi Khola. From there, the trail climbs steadily up the side of the valley to Hille at 1495m and after the short climb, we reach Tikhedhunga at 1570meters. Today’s walk offers a short and relatively easy day, during the journey which allows us to become used to the experience of trekking in Nepal.

Day 04: Trek to Ghorepani (2840meters) 5 hours

Leaving Tikhedunga, we begin our journey with a steep climb to Ulleri. Ulleri is a large Magar village at 2070meters. The trail then continues to ascend more gently, through fine forests of oak and rhododendrons towards Banthanti at 2250meters. Then we trek towards Nangethanti at 2460m. After an hour of walking this brings you to Ghorepani at 2840meters. O/N: Guesthouse Meals: B/L/D

May 05:Hike up to Poon Hill (3210meters) and trek to Tadapani (2610meters). 6 hours

Today, very early in the morning, we start an hour hiking to Poon Hill at elevation of 3210meters, a brilliant spectacle. It provides trekkers to an enlightening scene as the sun climbs the sky to peak out from behind the Himalayan titans of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Manalsu. There we spend about 1 hour, we then return to Ghorepani we take a hot breakfast at the hotel then we trek to Tadapani (2610meters). Along the trail towards Tadapani, we make climb along ridges and through pine and rhododendron forests to Deurali (2960meters). After that we descend to the Banthanti, we then turn off to Tadapani. Day 06: Trek to Ghandruk (1940meters.) 4 hours

From Tadapani the trail descends through forests to Ghandruk. Ghandruk is a village of Gurung people, one of the ethnic groups of Nepal; they have their own dialect, culture, costume, and life style. Ghandruk is also home to many Gurkha soldiers. It is a famous destination for trekkers as it is known for its beautiful mountain views and within easy reach from Pokhara and Kathmandu. We will stay into this beautiful village, visit Gurung museums. O/N: Guesthouse, Meals: B/L/D

Day 07:Trek and drive back to Pokhara

Early morning great sunrise view with great Himalayan views from your breakfast table, we walk about 2 hours to our pickup point Syaule Bazaar and then we will drive to Pokhara with our private transport as from Syaule Bazaar to Nayapul there is dirt road and frequent vehicle movement makes it dusty. We will stop at Naudanda for lunch and then back to Pokhara. Evening you can take a short boat ride on Fewa Lake to take great memories of Pokhara with Nepal. O/N Hotel. Meals: B/L/D

Day 08: Return drive (flight optional US$120 extra) to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel – 7 Hours

After enjoying beautiful Pokhara and its natural and cultural beauty, we begin our drive towards Kathmandu. After about 6-7 hours, we finally reach Kathmandu. We can either rest or go discover the tourist attractions in the capital city. Evening farewell dinner in Thamel. O/N Hotel. Meals : B/-/D
