Langtang Valley is the nearest Himalayan Region from Kathmandu valley, few hours drive from Kathmandu will take you to the beautiful Langtang region. Despite being very close to Kathmandu, the Langtang Region is as wild as any Tibetan highlands with idyllic rural landscape. The people living in the highlands of the Langtang region are certainly Nepalese but being the descendant of the Tibetan origin, they look like the Tibetans. Hence, Langtang region is one of the most popular trekking regions for those wishing a short trek from Kathmandu into the Himalayas influenced by Tibetan lifestyle. Moreover, accompanying with the varieties of rhododendron, bamboo forests, majestic waterfalls and snow-capped Himalayas make the trek one of the most diverse treks nearby Kathmandu.

DETAIL ITINERARY

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel in Thamel.

Upon your arrival in the Kathmandu airport, you will be greeted and transfer to your comfortable hotel in Thamel.. Later in the evening we will organize a “Welcome Dinner” at an excellent traditional Nepalese Restaurant where you will enjoy a Nepalese cultural program along with a fine meal. Day 02: Drive to Syabrubesi (1,550m/5,100ft): 145 km/ 6 hrs

After morning breakfast we drive out along the north-western hills of Kathmandu. Enjoy the Himlayan views and mountainous lifestyle through the terraced fields and rustic villages. Take Lunch at the Trishuli Bazar before continuing further to Dhunche. From Dhunche, we descent down to Syabrubesi. (B,L,D)

Day 03: Trek to Lama Hotel (2,380m/7,830ft): 5 hrs

This is our first day of trekking today. Follow the Langtang Khola River. Pass through the dense forests. Cross several suspension bridges. We also pass by a tea houses. The trail goes up and down but it’s not that challenging. (B,L,D)

Day 04:Trek to Langtang village (3,430m/11,253ft): 5/6 hr

After taking morning tea, we embark our second day of the journey. Our trail continues along dense forests. After making a steady climb up through the valley, we leave the tree line behind us. Enjoy the marvelous views of Langtang Lirung. Pass by water mills, prayer wheels, chortens, with sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them. (B,L,D)

May 05:Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m/12,697ft): 3hrs

After taking morning tea and breakfast, we get out of the village and pass on through yak pastures. Also pass the largest mani wall in Nepal, made from stone with prayers written on them. The prayers written on the mani wall is supposed to be blown away by the wind. Cross several of the wooden bridges. Since, we are really getting into the high altitudes, you might start feeling the thin air. Kanjin Gompa is surrounded by the Himalayas all around. You can take a walk around Kanjin Gompa enjoying the views, glaciers, ice-falls, birds and yaks. (B,L,D)

Day 06: Visit to Tserko Ri and trek back to Lama Hotel: 5/6 hrs

Early morning we visit to Tserko Ri (5000m/16,404ft) for mountain sunrise views. From Tserko Ri, you are quite fascinated by the panoramic views of Sisapangma ( 8,013 m), Langshisa Ri (6,427m), Naya Kang Ri (5846 m), Yala peak (5520m), Langtang Lirung(7246m) and many others.). After Lunch proceed to Lama Hotel. Since, its mostly downhill, it is 3/ 4 hours walk from Kanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel. The trail goes all the way down hill through forest following the river. Pass through the ethnic Tamang settlements who follow religious and cultural practices similar to the Tibetans. (B,L,D)

Day 07: Trek back to Syabrubesi and drive to Kathmandu: 4 hrs

After breakfast, we trek down to Syabrubensi, about 5 hours walk. Enjoy the easy trail mostly downhill through lush green vegetation. Arriving Syabrubesi, we take our lunch, and then take our private vehicle to Kathmandu. In the evening, farewell dinner organised. (B,L, D)
