Pokhara to Kathmandu with Everest Mountain Bike

TRIP INFO

A tour designed for the casual mountain biker that has a basic level of fitness and confidence in handling a bike. The tour travels over terrain to suit those cyclists wishing to experience a cross section of Nepal with a balanced itinerary of culture, lake, Himalayan views, view points and typical Nepalese landscapes where the Nepalese are living as they have done for many decades or more. Good quality hotels and all meals are included. Trails are very manageable and require the basic skills of biking on jeep and walking trails where technical skills are not required. This tour is designed to leave everyone at the end of the day with the ability to bike further and still smiling.

Cost Includes: Drive to Pokhara and drive from Arughat to Kathmandu, 6 nights Hotel/Guest House accommodation on Twin Sharing basis, Bike with helmet, Meals as shown under accommodation column written as Meals, Guide/Mechanic

DETAIL ITINERARY

Day 01:Arrival and Drive to Pokhara

Drive to Pokhara about 200km 5 hours. O/N Hotel

Day 02: Pokhara-Kalikasthan-Begnas Tal

After breakfast, we will again cross Fewa lake by boat then start riding on flat paved road till Bijayapur Khola about 12km. After crossing the bridge we run left from Army camp and ride alongside of river to Lapsidada and then to beautiful village called Kalikasthan (this name comes from goddess Kali temple), total uphill ride is 9km till Kalikasthan. We will have fantastic view of Annapurna, Manaslu and Daulagiri from here. We take a lunch break here and dry out the sweat due to all the way uphill from Bijayapur Khola. Having quick lunch in the local shop, we ride about 6km downhill Talchok and then flat and little uphill to our small island resort situated in between Begnas & Rupa Lake. O/N Guesthouse

Day 03:Begnas-Rambazar-Bhorletar-Sisaghat

Today’s ride also mostly downhill. After riding about 4km of flat and bit of uphill ride we reach to Urchale Bhanjyang (Bhanjyang means small pass in Nepali). Now, we have 12km downhill to Karputar and then we cross Modi River and reach to Bhorletar. It’s a small town with few shops for local settlements. We will have some snacks here in this local shop and learn some local culture. After lunch we have some easy ride flat and down to Sisaghat where we will stay in the local guesthouse but very basic. Each and every place we visit in this route, food, culture, tradition all different. This wan an old walking route from Kathmandu to Pokhara via Gorkha, when there wasn’t any road network connected. Day 04: Sisaghat-Kunchha-Paudi-Tarpughat-Palungtar

Today, we have 25km first part is uphill till Kunchha but beautiful ride via Soti Pasal; small shops where we can stop for our lunch and communicate with locals, not much crowd and people are very friendly.. After Kunchha, we will have all downhill except 1km uphill after crossing Marsyangdi River. We cross Paudi and then ride alongside of Marsyangdi River via Tarphutar. Tonight we stay in Palungtar in a Guesthouse. We might view some local celebrations if it you’re here in the festive season of October /November. O/N Guesthouse

May 05: Palungtar- Laxmi Bazar –Gorkha

Leaving Palungtar after breakfast, we ride 5km uphill to Luitel Gaon and then to Satdobato (Satdobato: this means seven trails meeting points). Many village trails meets at this point. We will enjoy tea and oranges (orange farming in this area is quite popular, every house having at least over 20 trees) in this place and then we leave main trail and use shortcut route to Chhepetar, have to carry bikes just for 5 minutes after crossing the Daraundi River. We will get some local good here for our lunch and then we ride mostly uphill but gradual to Gorkha via Laxmi Bazar. Beautiful terraced farm land. Whole hill looks yellow if you reach there during October to February. Gorkha is a ancient kingdom of ex-Shah dynasty, who ruled 237 years in Nepal. Gorkha Dubar is in top of the hill, we will visit in the evening. O/N Guesthouse

Day 06 :Gorkha – Kathmandu valley

Beautiful Sunshine and spectacular view of Manaslu and Annapurna from your breakfast table. After breakfast, we just turn1km uphill then on a flat jeep dirt tail to Phinam village and then to Taple. Beautiful villages on the way to Khanchok where we will have lunch; a last lunch of our 7 days long tour. After lunch we climb about 1km to Ghyampesal then all exhilarating downhill to Arughat. Arughat was important place in the ancient time for the local trade. After having some tea break, we pack our bikes on our bus and drive to the Kathmandu valley about 4 hours away. O/N hotel

Day 07: Fly back home…. (Optional morning activities e.g. visit Durbar square, Pashupatinath temple and Boudhanath Stupa…. This will cost US$60 per person including car, guide and entry fees to all heritage sites)
